Davenports Victorian Christmas is like stepping back in time, some customers have even said they feel like they are on a set from Downton Abbey…..
After much research and visits to places such as Alnwick Castle and Chatsworth House, Davenports Tea Room is decorated in a Victorian style with tables holding tall candelabras with large flower arrangements, antique silver and glassware, holly & greenery adorn the tables. Tasteful, period Christmas music, staff dressed in Victorian costume, sights and smells of freshly baked scones and mulled wine tantalise the senses on arrival.
We offer two versions of Afternoon Tea during this period, Victorian Christmas Traditional and Victorian Christmas Combination* (min two sharing with no dietary needs). Vegetarians please order a Victorian Traditional and advise if you eat fish or not.
Mulled wine on arrival (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) included, Sandwiches are delicious home made potted beef, home-cooked ham, cooked in apple juice, then roasted off with Demerara sugar, which is just delicious, home cooked free range turkey with locally made cranberry sauce & Port of Lancaster smoked salmon & cream cheese. (Unless you advise us otherwise). Then a Traditional version stand for two has 2 tiers of luxury, Christmas inspired cakes, a Combination version has instead one tier of cakes and one tier of savoury items such as layered pie, pork pie, cranberry sauce on the side, partridge & pear pate with sloe gin, 3 cheeses, Christmas chutney, balsamic pickles, grapes. Freshly baked home-made scones are served separately with clotted cream, locally made jam /farmhouse butter if required. Plus a pot of specialty tea each from our huge range of teas, guided by our afternoon tea specialist Belinda Davenport. (Coffee available).
