Victorian Christmas Afternoon Tea 2021
One of our most popular events and this year will be no exception with many bookings already in. With less operating days and reduced capacity, if you want to experience our magical Victorian Christmas we strongly recommend booking early.
Davenports Victorian Christmas is like stepping back in time, some customers have even said they feel like they are on a set from Downton Abbey…..
After much research and visits to places such as Alnwick Castle and Chatsworth House, Davenports Tea Room is decorated in a Victorian style with tables holding tall candelabras with large flower arrangements, antique silver and glassware, holly & greenery adorn the tables. Tasteful, period Christmas music, staff dressed in Victorian costume, sights and smells of freshly baked scones and mulled wine tantalise the senses on arrival.
Victorian Traditional – home cooked ham cooked in apple juice and then roast in demerara sugar, home made potted beef, smoked salmon & cream cheese & turkey and cranberry sandwiches unless advised otherwise. (Vegan; Dairy Free; Gluten Free available). A selection of Victorian inspired cakes, a pot of speciality tea/artisan coffee plus a scone (cherry & cinnamon/Plain with a hint of Christmas rose or stilton and walnut) each.
Victorian Combination – sandwiches, scones & drinks as above but instead of two tiers of cake between two, this version has less cakes and more savoury items such as a slice of layered pie, pork pie, cranberry sauce, selection of cheeses including a small amount of blue, cheese biscuits, Christmas chutney & figs (unless you advise otherwise).
£33pp – as this is such a popular event, we do require a £10pp non refundable deposit which can be transferred to a new date as long as you call us by 09:30am on the day at the latest and speak to us (please DO NOT email or leave an answerphone message as we may not get these until the end of dates so this will be treated as loss of deposit).
There are two versions of Victorian Christmas Afternoon Tea.
(vegetarian, vegan #1, dairy free #2 and gluten free #3 are available pre-booked with at least 24hrs notice and items will be substituted accordingly)
Both versions include: Mulled wine on arrival (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), a mixed round of sandwiches: fillings consist of delicious home-cooked turkey, with cranberry sauce; home cooked ham, cooked in Cheshire apple juice with cloves, then roasted with demerara sugar, then hand-cut; and also our popular homemade potted beef; and Scottish smoked salmon and cream cheese, which would all have been popular in Victorian times (vegetarian, vegan #1, dairy free #2 and gluten free #3) available by request at least 24hrs in advance)
Traditional version: includes: mouth-watering locally made & home-made Victorian Christmas inspired cakes on the top two tiers of your antique tea stand, with freshly baked warm cherry & cinnamon, stilton & walnut or plain with a hint of Christmas rose scones brought out separately and served with locally made Cheshire clotted cream and locally made jam.
Combination version: includes: If you don’t like too many cakes (there are some people!) our combination version has less cakes by replacing the middle tier of cakes, with a tier of Christmas themed savoury items, such as layered pie, pork pie with cranberry served separately, Partridge & Pear award winning pate, selection of cheeses, Christmas chutney, cheese biscuits & a mini soup. Obviously altered to accommodate dietary needs if required. Sandwiches etc all included as above and the price per person is the same.
Please let us know if you would prefer this version.
Both include: a pot of tea per person from our extensive range of loose-leaf speciality teas, brewed to your liking or a cafeteria from our range of artisan coffees. Part of the experience is making your own Christmas Cracker (and don’t worry you’ll get help if it’s needed!) and a Christmas quiz. All this, plus a little gift makes our Victorian Christmas a very special event.
So, it’s no wonder Davenports Tea Room was listed as one of the top ten places to visit at Christmas by The Times. Early booking essential £32 per person. (£10 per person nonrefundable deposit required)
Available from Sat 14 Nov on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon throughout November until 21 December, then daily until Thu 24 Dec. This year we will not be opening in between Christmas and New Year.
Please note during these dates only the Victorian Christmas Afternoon Tea (both versions) may be booked, no other afternoon teas.
